...a well-known actress hoped to rent one of our vintage campers (sadly, all were in winter storage). Her enthusaism prompted us to double the size of our fleet - leading to over 50 bookings and hundreds of Happy Campers in 2019!
The first booking was for a large Harley rally, the next a mini- "Burning Man" festival in Woodstock, NY (picture a 12 foot high fiberglass frog with pulsating psychedlic eyes)... see video below
The retro campers were popular vintage rentals at ... music festivals: bluegrass at the "Grey Fox" festival in the Catskills, jazz in Vermont, an opera at Glimmerglass. They were enjoyed at family reunions in the Adirondacks, Vermont and Massachussetts. Renters who had never camped in Caroga traveled from Manhattan, Ohio, and bucolic Vermont to experience vintage camping in the little village of Caroga Lake. The campers housed guests at two country-style Canajoharie weddings - and a pair of newly-weds (Star Trek fans) on their wedding night. ..
The rare '63 Shasta was used as a photo booth/bar at a family party and later, as a "love shack" for a couple reunited after decades apart...
A classic car buff booked the '58 FAN," Tin Can Annie, for a classic car show at the Syracuse fairground; a professional photographer from Schoharie for a Christmas family photoshoot. A proud mom booked a camper to reward her daughter's efforts at collecting thousands in donations for breast cancer research.
... a Cohoes couple parked the '65 Frolic in their front yard for squealing girls attending their daughter's "Happy Camper"birthday party and
a daughter rekindled memories with her 95 years "young" mother - with hopes of creating new memories between them.
We were so grateful to play a small part in all these events, and more...
Enjoy the long winter's nights - and see you real soon!

The largest of our tiny vintage campers, this 16ft. Frolic, made in Elkhardt, Indiana in the mid-60s, was named the Flying Cow because she was purchased from a good friend living in the town of "Bovina" (get it?) Center high atop the Catskill Mountains. The trip down to Schenectady from Bovina was a rush! She is an amalgamation of decor themes: think Woodstock meets the Adirondacks, with a touch of fifties kitsch thrown in. The Cow easily accomodates 2 adults and 2-3 children. FREE use of camping gear and an outdoor propane stove. List provided above.
The 1958 Fan Estate took over 5 years to complete. She is a true "Tin Can Trailer" having come off the assembly line in the 50s with n unpainted aluminum finish. When we found her, she had just been plucked by a local dump. Her skin badly damaged, and in need of a complete overhaul. You will enjoy her custom birch cabinetry, and whimsical decor. Because these early campers were made by unemployed aircraft manufacturers, we used the tin can or robotic feel as the prevailing decor theme.
She is an elegant model, with two bunks side by side, and collapsing dinette table making this a comfortable rental for up to 5 adults.
When looking for the most popular vintage camper, this rare 1963 Shasta compact is truly the "Camper's Choice". When booking it choose from 4 different decor themes, each with customized curtains, banners, pillows and more. It was found just off the North Warren Snowmobile trail last winter. Buried in snow, it was hard to see the gleaming birch walls that had not been too badly damaged by the elements. Once restored this winged sweety was a big hit last season: click below to see why!
She sleeps two adults - king size pullout bed. Two canvas cots that hang above the king-sized bed suitable for two small children under 85 lbs.
New for 2020! This 1971 Beeline is our roomiest rental. She was purchased from a family who had enjoyed it for several generations, but happy to see it added to our rental fleet. They knew that these beauties are getting hard to find, are expensive and time-consuming to fix, and were happy to watch its transofmration this fall (see our facebook page). Black and white buffalo plaid, sunflowers, and bees and bears welcome you - we expect the Bumblebear to be a hit with families. The bunk bed is accessible by a wooden ladder, the dinette transforms into a single bed, and the double bed is super comfie... check out the photos and
