Some campgrounds in NY are managed by the Department of Environmental Conservation. (Others by New York State)
The big difference between a state and privately run campground? Price (most are $20+/- per night. Amenities: No water or electric available and limited use of generators.
The DEC operates 52 campgrounds located in the Adirondack and Catskill Parks. DEC campgrounds provide a wide variety of experiences, including island camping, tent and trailer camping, boat launching facilities, hiking trails, beaches and day use areas with picnic tables and grills. Fishing licenses are no longer being sold at any of their campground facilities, but can be conveniently purchased on-line or by phone.
The following DEC campgrounds can be found approximatedly 75 miles from our two locations.

Major differences between a state and privately run campground? Cost (most state campgrounds areapproximately $20 per night) However, no electric or water hookups.
Every privately-run campground offers a wide range of amenities. All our campers are equipped with air conditioners and electric: for most renters, this is important.
We deliver to hundreds of privately-owned campsites (without restriction) that are located within approximately 75 miles of Schenectady, NY (12304) in the capital region or Caroga Lake, NY (12032) in the south/central Adirondacks.
Please note: Many of the large music festivals located in our region offer camping. See Google Map and/or visit our EVENTS PAGE for details and locations.
This is a broad geographic area: it extends from N.Hudson/Lake George/Glens Falls in the north, parts of Vermont and Massachusetts, the Mohawk River Valley, Cherry Valley, Cooperstown, the Hudson River Valley,and the Berkshires.
The delivery cost is $1.00 per mile round trip. Should time allow, we will extend that range.

Although NYS campgrounds are most affordable ($18-$22 per night), their services are limited, and the best campsites in them are booked before Christmas.
With the huge increase in RV sales, prices are rising in private campgrounds. Discount clubs make them more affordable. Passport America many participating campgrounds within a 75 mile radius of our homebases in Schenectady, NY (12304) and Caroga Lake, NY 12032. No state campgrounds accept RV membership discounts.
Passport America campgrounds offer up to 50% off, has a trip routing service and app that shows campground details such as pricing and amenities. Before joining you can check out all of the participating campgrounds and see current prices, discounts, amenities, pictures, and any discount restrictions. Check out their discounts to see if you will save money.
